RE-OPENING GUIDELINES APRIL 23, 2020

Please receive the following as general guidance, as you consider with your leadership, your process for reopening your church services. Please respect local government guidance in setting your guidelines.

March 16, 2020 Update

Today the White House released new guidelines urging all Americans to “avoid social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people.” After consulting with the Vice President for Church Ministries today, I am now urging all our South Atlantic District churches to cooperate with the guidance of civic leaders. I am making a strong recommendation that public worship services be suspended through the end of the month.

This guidance is not born of fear. We rest comfortably in the sentiments expressed in Psalm 46. We act out of love for one another and our neighbors who expect the church to also be a good citizen. The Scriptures instruct us to live respectfully with civil authority (Romans 13:1-7).

In this email you will find encouragements and resources for reflection in maintaining a virtual community with your people on line. We pray that conditions will improve over the next two weeks, allowing resumption of our normal routines. Let me know if you have questions.

We would like to formulate a list of all our churches that are offering online streaming of their services. Please use the below link to submit your online streaming link. We have also included, below, a link to our District Website that contains updated information about the district response to COVID-19. Please use keep checking this link and the district app for current updates.
